SCENE CONTEXT A flat, bare field in thick cold fog, dark green grass, and far behind the fog the faint line of a low mountain ridge. @knighteyes stands with @archer1 and @archer2 at his sides. Fifteen metres in front of them stands one tall tree, and fifteen metres beyond the tree, thirty metres from the knight, @savage bursts out of the fog and sprints straight at them with a machete, screaming. This is the knight's scene. Only he knows that the rope on the tree is a snare; the archers do not, and the audience sees a rope on a tree and does not know what it is for until it fires. The camera shows his calm and one tightening hand, never his reason. If the archers loose, the man dies for nothing; if the rope fails, the machete reaches them in three strides. He bets both on a rope, and wins. Then the fog answers: the man was the first of many. CAST AND REFERENCES @knighteyes is the knight, the one in command; closed visor, eyes visible through the eye opening. @archer1 is the lean archer at his LEFT shoulder. @archer2 is the broad archer at his RIGHT shoulder. @savage is the running man. Each reference controls only its own person; sheet backgrounds and layouts are not inherited. Not on any sheet and written here: @knighteyes wears a sheathed longsword on his left hip and never draws it; each archer holds a tall longbow with one dark-fletched arrow nocked; @savage carries a long rust-dark machete in his right hand. The ten men who appear in CUT 6 have no reference: they are painted the same way as @savage, each with a machete, and they stay far in the fog. The tree, the rope and the field have no reference. LOCATION MAP A flat, open field of short dark green grass, wet, almost black near the camera, no flowers, no path, no stones, no other trees, no buildings. Distances are fixed: the knight and the two archers stand in a tight line, @archer1 at the knight's left shoulder, @archer2 at his right. Exactly fifteen metres in front of them stands a single tall old tree, about twenty metres high: the lower eight metres of the trunk are bare grey wood with no branches, one thick dry branch sticks out at about five metres up toward the group, and far above it the crown is still in leaf, dark green fading to grey in the fog. Under the tree the ground is open and clear; nothing hangs low enough to hide a running man. Exactly fifteen metres beyond the tree, thirty metres from the knight, the grass fades into a wall of pale grey fog, and @savage comes out of it there. Far behind that fog a low mountain ridge: a single soft line only one tone darker than the fog, no peaks, no snow, no detail, dissolving at both ends, with no sky above it, only more fog. The snare is a FOOT snare made of ONE thick dark hemp rope, and the rope is in the scene from the first frame, lying completely still: a loop of it lies open on the grass at the foot of the tree on the fog side, exactly where a running man's foot lands, half sunk in the grass; from the loop the rope runs along the ground about two metres to the base of the trunk, then up the trunk pressed flat against the bark, up to the dry branch, over the branch, and on up into the green crown where it ends out of sight. In the wide shot it is a thin dark line in the grass and on the bark, easy to miss, and it does not move until the trap fires. Nothing else is there: no log, no second rope, nothing hanging in the open. Screen rule: in every side view the knight and archers are on the LEFT, the tree is in the CENTRE, @savage comes from the RIGHT and runs toward screen LEFT, and behind everything there is fog with the faint ridge line in it. FIRST FRAME / BLOCKING 16:9. A long lens from low behind the knight's right shoulder: the edge of his helmet soft and dark in the left foreground, the tall tree fifteen metres ahead with its bare lower trunk cutting the right third of the frame and the dark line of the rope running up its bark, and sharp beyond it, thirty metres from the camera, @savage already launching out of the fog into his first stride, body pitched forward, mouth open in a scream, the machete raised in his right hand, behind him only fog and the faint grey line of the ridge. Nothing stands between him and the camera but open grass and the trunk. FORMAT MODE One generation, about 25 seconds, six cuts. Real speed everywhere except CUT 3. CUT 1, about 5 s, long lens from behind the knight's right shoulder, handheld, barely breathing: His war cry is the first sound, at 0:00.3, before anything else. @savage sprints, a full explosive sprint from the first frame: long driving strides, body leaning forward, arms pumping, the machete arm pumping with them, grass flying from his feet. He eats ground visibly: he starts fifteen metres beyond the tree and by the end of the cut he is barely ten metres from it. After two seconds two longbows rise into the frame from both edges, @archer1 on the left and @archer2 on the right, and draw to the cheek, one bowstring creak then a second, and between them the knight's right gauntlet comes up flat, palm down, and stays there in the air. @archer2 whispers, off his face, "Sir?" Nobody answers. The man keeps coming at full speed. CUT 2, about 2 s, tight on the knight's left hip: The sheathed sword at his side and his left gauntlet closing on its hilt. The fingers tighten one after another until the gauntlet creaks, the knuckles locking, the blade staying in the scabbard. Above the top of the frame his right arm is still raised. Slow breathing inside the helmet. CUT 3, about 3 s, side profile of @savage, 50 mm, camera tracking alongside him at his own speed, at a quarter of real speed like a high-speed camera: He fills the frame from the knee up, running screen left through the fog, still about ten metres beyond the tree, which is not in the frame. Every stride lands heavy, wet grass sprays from his feet, dust lifts off him with each step, his hair and everything loose on him floats and falls with the stride, the machete swings low at his side with the blade pointing forward along the frame, never at the camera. The mouth is open on the scream, the eyes fixed on something ahead and to screen left, never on the lens. Fog streams past behind him, the ridge a soft line beyond. Slow motion only in this cut. CUT 4, about 7 s, locked wide from about forty metres to the side, 35 mm, real speed from its first frame: The whole thirty metres in one frame with air on both sides: the three on the left, both bows at full draw, the knight's right arm out flat, the tall tree in the centre with its green crown going into the fog and the thin dark line of the rope lying still in the grass and up the trunk, @savage on the right about ten metres beyond the tree and sprinting at full real speed, pale fog and the soft ridge line behind everything. The people are small; the tree is tall. The knight's hand presses down twice, hold. @archer2's bow arm trembles; @archer1 glances at the knight once and back. @savage reaches the tree in two seconds at full speed. His left foot comes down inside the loop. In the same instant the rope goes tight along its whole path, visibly and in this order: the loop closes around his left ankle, the two metres of rope lying in the grass between the loop and the trunk lift out of the grass and straighten, the rope along the trunk pulls hard against the bark, and the rope over the dry branch runs upward into the crown, hauling the ankle end up after it. His left leg is pulled up and toward the trunk, he pitches forward, his hands never reach the ground, and he is hauled up feet first until he hangs head down from the dry branch by the left ankle, the rope one straight line from his ankle up to the branch, his head about two metres above the grass, swaying a little, arms flailing, a dark shape against the fog, the scream cut off into a yelp. The machete flies out of his hand as he goes up and lands point down in the grass under him. The rope stays on its path the whole time, ground, trunk, branch: it never flies through the air on its own, never appears from nowhere, never shoots out of the tree or out of the ground; nothing falls on him; it touches only his ankle. Then half a second with nothing but wind in the grass and the slow creak of the rope. CUT 5, about 4 s, medium from the front of the three, 50 mm, the hanging man out of frame behind the camera: @archer1 lets his string down first, breathes out, and a laugh breaks out of him; he folds over his bow, shoulders shaking. A beat later @archer2, still at full draw, lowers the bow slowly, starts to laugh, drops to one knee and punches the wet turf with his fist once, twice. @knighteyes in the centre does not laugh; he shakes the helmet slowly, once left, once right. Then, from far off in the fog behind the camera, many voices scream at once. The laughter dies, not together: @archer1 stops first, mid-laugh, and straightens, staring past the camera; a beat later @archer2 freezes on his knee with his mouth still open, the laugh gone out of his face; the knight's helmet lifts a few degrees. Three faces, all fear now. Fog and the faint ridge behind them. CUT 6, about 4 s, from low behind the three, 35 mm, full height: All three from behind, head to toe, with grass in the bottom of the frame. @knighteyes stands in the centre, his right hand still raised flat. @archer1 stands at his left, bow coming back up. @archer2 is scrambling up off the grass at the knight's right, grabbing his bow from the ground. Fifteen metres ahead of them the tall tree, and under its dry branch @savage still hanging upside down by the left ankle, swaying slightly, the machete standing in the grass beneath him. And beyond the tree, out of the wall of fog, about ten more men come running, painted the same way as @savage, machetes raised, sprinting straight at the three in a loose ragged line, screaming, still far, their faces unreadable in the fog, the nearest of them a good thirty metres beyond the tree, all of them growing larger as they run. Hold on the three backs, the hanging man and the running men for the last second, then cut to black. OPTICS About 100 mm for CUT 1, shallow focus with the helmet edge soft in the foreground. About 85 mm for the hand on the hilt in CUT 2. 50 mm for the tracking profile in CUT 3 and the medium in CUT 5. 35 mm deep focus for the locked wide in CUT 4 and the full-height shot from behind in CUT 6. CAMERA Handheld with the slightest breath in CUTS 1 and 6, never a push. CUT 3 tracks sideways alongside @savage at exactly his speed so he stays in the same place in the frame while the fog streams past. Locked on sticks for CUT 4 for its whole length, no reframing while the trap fires. CUT 5 is a slow, barely visible drift. ACTION @savage runs at a full sprint the whole way, never jogs, never slows, never looks at the camera. CUT 3 shows that sprint at a quarter of real speed, like a high-speed camera; CUT 4 returns to real speed on its first frame and the trap fires at real speed. Bows rise, draw and hold; no arrow is ever loosed. The knight's movements are the flat right gauntlet raised, the left gauntlet tightening on the hilt, the slow head shake, and the small lift of the helmet at the scream from the fog; his right hand stays raised to the end. The sword never leaves the scabbard. The snare is one mechanical event in this order: foot into the loop, loop closes on the ankle, the rope lying in the grass straightens and lifts, the rope along the trunk goes tight, the rope over the branch runs up into the crown and hauls the ankle up after it. The rope is a physical object already in the scene and moves only because it is pulled from above, along the path it already lies on. After it he hangs on the single rope by the left ankle, sways gently and never comes down. @archer2 goes from one knee in CUT 5 to scrambling up off the grass in CUT 6; @archer1 stays on his feet. The ten men in CUT 6 run at full sprint and stay far: none of them reaches the tree before the cut to black. PERFORMANCE @knighteyes is still and unhurried, the one person in the field who is not afraid, and the tightening hand on the hilt is the only thing that gives him away. The archers are afraid first: @archer2's trembling bow arm and whisper, @archer1's glance. @savage is pure aggression, teeth bared, no fear and no doubt in the face, running as if he will cut them down in the next second. The archers' laughter comes one at a time, not together, and it is relief, not mockery; it bends @archer1 over and puts @archer2 on his knee. The laughter dies one face at a time too, and what replaces it is plain fear: eyes fixed on the fog, mouths open, no words. The hanging man goes from war cry to a yelp to furious squirming. PHYSICS Wet grass flattens under running feet and throws fine spray, in CUT 3 the spray hangs and falls slowly. The bowstrings bite into the cheeks at full draw. The gauntlet creaks as the fingers close on the hilt. The rope is heavy hemp: it lies dead still until the foot lands, then goes tight along its full length in one motion, lifting out of the grass, thrumming against the bark, and the dry branch dips under the weight. A rope under tension is a straight line, never a curve floating in the air. The hanging man sways on the single rope in small slowing arcs, hair and everything loose on him hanging straight down. The machete sticks upright in the turf and stays. The grass is flattened where @archer2 knelt. Breath fogs at the eye opening and at every mouth; the fog drifts slowly over the grass, and the running men in CUT 6 come out of it as dark shapes that sharpen as they run. LIGHTING Dense cold fog, no sun, no visible sky. Flat grey-blue skylight from above, brightest in the fog itself, falling off to near black in the grass at the camera. The green crown goes grey as it climbs into the fog. The ridge is one tone darker than the fog and never sharper than that. Steel picks up dim grey-blue highlights. No warm light anywhere. AUDIO No music. Wind over wet grass under everything, muffled by fog. At 0:00.3 @savage's war cry, far and hoarse, growing fast; feet pounding wet grass; two bowstring creaks, one then the other; the whispered "Sir?"; the creak of the gauntlet on the hilt and slow breathing inside the helmet in CUT 2. In CUT 3 the sound goes dull and distant with the slow motion, as if under water: the scream stretched and low, each footfall a slow heavy thud. On the cut to CUT 4 the sound snaps back to real speed and full presence: the feet pounding closer, the hiss of the rope lifting out of the grass and thrumming on the bark, a crack as the dry branch takes the weight, the scream cut to a yelp, the dull thud of the machete into turf, then half a second of nothing but wind and the creak of the rope. In CUT 5 the first laugh breaks that silence, the second joins a beat later, the fist thumps the ground twice; then, far off, many voices screaming at once, muffled by the fog, and the laughter stops, one man after the other, until there is only the distant screaming and the wind. CUT 6: the screaming of many voices growing, many feet pounding wet grass far away, the slow creak of the rope, the hanging man grunting, a scrape of a bow snatched off the grass. Cut to black with the screaming still rising. The only spoken word is the whispered "Sir?" in CUT 1. STYLE Photoreal live action, cold prestige grade, near monochrome grey-blue with dark green only in the grass and the high crown, fine film grain. No glow, no particles, no AI gloss. POSITIVE LOCKS - @knighteyes, @archer1, @archer2 and @savage match their reference sheets 100 percent in every frame; sheet backgrounds and layouts are not inherited; nobody's clothing, hair or face changes between cuts. - Distances are fixed in every cut: the tree is fifteen metres in front of the knight, never closer; @savage starts fifteen metres beyond the tree, thirty metres from the knight. - The tree is about twenty metres tall, bare trunk for the lower eight metres, one dry branch at five metres toward the group, green crown high above; it stands in the exact middle between the knight and the fog line. One tree in the whole scene; no forest, no tree line, no buildings anywhere. - ONE rope in the scene, already in place and completely still from the first frame: loop in the grass at the foot of the tree, along the ground to the trunk, up the trunk, over the dry branch, up into the crown. When it fires it tightens along that exact path and nowhere else: it never flies through the air by itself, never appears from nowhere, never shoots out of the tree or out of the ground. Nothing falls out of the tree onto @savage. The rope touches only his left ankle; never his head, neck, arms or body. - After the trap @savage hangs head down by the left ankle on that single rope under the dry branch, about two metres above the grass, swaying slightly, in every shot where the tree is in frame, to the end. - The knight's visor stays closed in every cut. His right hand is raised flat from CUT 1 to the end of the film. His left hand rests on the hilt of the sheathed sword; the sword never leaves the scabbard. He stays on his feet and never laughs. - From CUT 1 to CUT 5 exactly four people are in the scene, and they are these four. The ten running men exist only in CUT 6: they come out of the fog beyond the tree, stay at least thirty metres beyond it, never reach the tree, never reach the three, and their faces are never readable. No army beyond those ten, no riders, no animals. - @archer1 is always on the knight's LEFT and @archer2 on his RIGHT, standing or on the ground, in every cut where they appear. - Screen rule in every side view: knight and archers LEFT, tree CENTRE, @savage from the RIGHT running toward screen LEFT, fog and the faint ridge behind. - The ridge stays a single soft line far behind the fog in every cut: never sharp, never closer, no peaks, no snow, no castle on it. - @savage sprints at full speed in every cut where he runs; he never jogs or slows down. Slow motion exists only in CUT 3; CUT 4 is real speed from its first frame, and the trap fires at real speed. - In CUT 3 the tree, the knight and the archers are not in the frame. - The bows are drawn and held from CUT 1 to the trap; no arrow is loosed at any point in the film; after the trap both bows are lowered, and in CUT 6 they come back up. - The machete is never pointed at the camera; it is raised or swinging at his side while he runs, the blade points along the frame toward screen left, it leaves his hand when the rope fires, and it stands point down in the grass for the rest of the scene. - Nobody looks into the lens. - No synchronised group reaction: @archer1 laughs first, @archer2 a beat later, the knight never laughs; the laughter stops in the same order, @archer1 first, @archer2 a beat later. - No blood, no wounds, no gore. No text anywhere. No music. No sun, no warm light, no flowers.
