Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains how payments, cancellations, credits, and refunds work for Athana subscriptions and purchases. It supplements our Terms of Service.

Overview

Athana (“we,” “us,” or “our”) offers paid subscription plans and a credit-based economy used to generate AI marketing content. This policy describes when fees are and are not refundable. Capitalized terms have the meaning given in our Terms of Service, which this policy forms part of.

In short: subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically, and fees are generally non-refundable. You can cancel anytime to stop future renewals, and we honor any refund rights required by applicable law. Failed generations are credited back where the failure is attributable to the Service.

1. Billing & Stripe

All payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. By purchasing a subscription or credits, you authorize Athana and Stripe to charge your payment method for the applicable fees, recurring charges, and taxes. Subscriptions are billed in advance at the beginning of each billing period (for example, monthly or annually) and renew automatically until cancelled. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout based on your billing location.

2. General refund rule

Except as required by applicable law or as expressly stated in this policy, all fees — including subscription fees, renewals, and credit purchases — are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for:

  • partial subscription periods or unused time after a cancellation;
  • credits that have been used, expired, or forfeited;
  • dissatisfaction with AI-generated Outputs, which are inherently variable (see our Terms regarding AI outputs); or
  • downgrades, or features you did not use.

3. Refund eligibility

As a goodwill measure and where permitted, we may consider a refund request for a first-time initial purchase if all of the following apply:

  • you request it within 7 days of the initial charge;
  • the request relates to the initial purchase, not a renewal; and
  • you have not materially used the plan — in particular, no (or only negligible) credits have been consumed and no content has been published.

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method and may exclude amounts attributable to credits already used, third-party processing fees, and applicable taxes where non-recoverable. Refunds are at our reasonable discretion except where required by law, and granting one request does not obligate us to grant others.

4. Credits

Credits are prepaid units used to access generation features. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are non-refundable except as required by law. Plan credits may expire at the end of each billing cycle and generally do not roll over. Unused credits are forfeited when your subscription is cancelled, downgraded, or terminated. Promotional or bonus credits may carry additional expiration and usage conditions and are never refundable.

5. Free trial & free plan

Where we offer a free trial or free plan, no payment is taken for the free portion, so no refund applies to it. If a trial converts to a paid plan, the general refund rules above apply to the first paid charge. Cancel before a trial ends to avoid being charged.

6. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account billing settings or by contacting support. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period. You keep access to paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which your account reverts to the free plan or loses paid access.

7. Failed generations

Generation features deduct credits when a job is submitted. If a generation fails for reasons attributable to the Service (for example, a provider error that prevents delivery of your Output), we aim to automatically return the credits used for that job. Credits are not returned for generations that complete successfully but do not meet your subjective expectations, or for failures caused by your Inputs violating our Terms or a third-party provider’s policies.

8. How to request a refund

To request a refund, email support@athana.ai from the email address associated with your account and include your account email, the charge date, and the reason for the request. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask for additional information to verify the request. We do not accept refund requests submitted by third parties on your behalf.

9. Chargebacks

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank or card issuer — most issues can be resolved quickly. Initiating an unauthorized or fraudulent chargeback may result in suspension or termination of your account, loss of credits, and recovery of amounts owed, including associated fees.

10. Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation rights you may have under the consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction. Where such laws apply, we will honor the refund rights they require. This policy is governed by and read together with our Terms of Service.
